Mineral licks are rare in the Amazon Basin and attract many species. They also attract predators in the same way a dry season waterhole does on the African savannah. There are obvious benefits to hunting as a pair, but there are also inherent risks when females are involved. A dominance hierarchy is established that at times can end the brothers journey together.
