On an exposed river bank near the Bolivian border a flock of Macaw feed on the mineral rich clays exposed by rain and flood waters. Mineral licks are rare in the Amazon Basin and attract many species. They also attract predators in the same way a dry season waterhole does on the African savannah. A coalition is how we refer to Cheetah when they move in numbers. Aside from mothers and cubs, a coalition of Cheetah usually consists of brothers raised in the same litter. There are obvious benefits to hunting as a pair, but there are also inherent risks when females are involved. A dominance hierarchy is established that at times can end the brothers journey together.
